How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter your weight in kilograms (kg).
  2. Input the duration of your rowing session in minutes.
  3. Select the intensity level that best describes your rowing session:
    • Light (leisurely pace): For casual rowing at a relaxed pace.
    • Moderate (average pace): For regular rowing at a steady, comfortable pace.
    • Vigorous (fast pace): For intense rowing at a fast pace.
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to estimate the calories burned.
  5. The result will be displayed in kilocalories (kcal).

Understanding MET Values

MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values represent the energy cost of physical activities. The formula used in this calculator is:

Calories burned = MET value × weight in kg × duration in hours

The MET values used for different intensities are:

  • Light intensity: 3.5 METs
  • Moderate intensity: 4.8 METs
  • Vigorous intensity: 6.0 METs

Example

If you weigh 70 kg and row for 30 minutes at a moderate intensity:

Calories burned = 4.8 METs × 70 kg × (30/60) hours = 196 kcal

Limitations

This calculator provides an estimate based on average values. Actual calorie burn may vary based on individual factors such as fitness level, technique, and environmental conditions.
