Calculate the run rate required to achieve a target score in a specified number of overs or balls
Learn how to use the Run Rate Calculator and its working principles
Run rate is a crucial metric in cricket that indicates how many runs a team is scoring per over or per ball. It helps in setting realistic targets and planning strategies.
The calculator uses the following formula to calculate run rate:
Run Rate = (Target Score - Current Score) / Total Balls Remaining
Where Total Balls Remaining is calculated as:
Suppose your team has scored 200 runs in 30 overs of a 50-over match, and the target is 300 runs. To calculate your required run rate:
Total balls remaining = 20 overs × 6 balls/over = 120 balls
Runs needed = 300 - 200 = 100 runs
Required run rate = 100 runs / 120 balls = 0.833 runs per ball (or 5 runs per over)
