Calculation Formula

Total Cost = Distance × Fuel Efficiency × Fuel Price

Where:
Distance: The distance of the travel in kilometers
Fuel Efficiency: The car's fuel efficiency in kilometers per liter
Fuel Price: The price of fuel per liter in the local currency

Travel Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Travel Calculator and understand its working principles

How to Use the Travel Calculator

  1. Enter the distance of your travel in kilometers (km)
  2. Input your vehicle's fuel efficiency in kilometers per liter (km/L)
  3. Provide the current fuel price per liter in your local currency (€/L)
  4. Click the "Calculate" button to compute the fuel needed and total cost
  5. Use the "Reset" button to clear all inputs and start over

Understanding the Calculation

The Travel Calculator uses the following formula to determine your travel costs:

Total Cost = Distance × Fuel Efficiency × Fuel Price

For example, if you're traveling 100 km in a car that uses 8 liters per 100 km (which is 12.5 km/L), and fuel costs €1.5 per liter, your total cost would be:

100 km × 12.5 km/L × €1.5/L = €187.50

Important Considerations

  • For more accurate results, ensure your fuel efficiency is measured under similar conditions as your planned travel
  • Consider adding a buffer for unexpected stops or increased fuel consumption
  • Fuel prices may vary by location and time, so check current rates before planning
