Chargeable weight is the weight used to calculate shipping costs. Carriers typically use the greater of the actual package weight (what the package weighs) or the volumetric weight (what the package *appears* to weigh based on its dimensions).
Volumetric weight is calculated to account for the space a package occupies in transport. Packages that are large but light can sometimes be charged based on their volume rather than their actual weight.
