How to Use the Calculator
- Enter the number of Cubic Feet (CCF) of natural gas you want to convert
- Input the pressure (PSI) of the natural gas, typically 14.7 PSI for standard atmospheric pressure
- Enter the current temperature (°F) of the natural gas
- Click the "Calculate" button to convert CCF to Therms and Gallons
- The results will be displayed in the respective fields
Understanding Natural Gas Measurements
Cubic Feet (CF) and Cubic Feet per Day (CCF) are common units for measuring natural gas volume:
- CCF (Cubic Centrifugal Foot): Represents 100 cubic feet of natural gas
- Therm: A unit of energy equal to 100,000 BTU (British Thermal Units)
- BTU (British Thermal Unit): The amount of heat required to raise 1 pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit
Conversion Formulas
The calculator uses the following formulas:
BTU = CCF × 102 × Pressure × (Temperature + 459.67) / 60
Therms = BTU / 100,000
Gallons = CCF × 102 × 7.48
Practical Applications
This calculator is useful for:
- Tracking natural gas usage in homes and businesses
- Understanding gas bills with different measurement units
- Estimating energy consumption
- Comparing energy costs between different suppliers
