Electricity Load Calculator

Calculate electricity load, consumption, and cost based on appliance usage

Input Parameters

Calculation Results

Calculation Formula

kWh = (P × T × PF) / (1000 × V)

Where:
P = Power Consumption (Watts)
T = Usage Hours per Day
PF = Power Factor
V = Voltage (Volts)
kWh = Kilowatt-hour (energy consumption)

Daily Energy Consumption: 0.00 kWh
Monthly Energy Consumption (30 days): 0.00 kWh
Annual Energy Consumption (365 days): 0.00 kWh
Current (Amps): 0.00 A
Power (Watts): 0.00 W

Electricity Load Calculator Calculator Usage Guide

Learn how to use the Electricity Load Calculator to analyze your appliance energy consumption

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the Power Consumption in watts (W) of your appliance. This can usually be found on the appliance's label or manual.
  2. Input the Usage Hours per Day - how many hours you use the appliance daily.
  3. Select the appropriate Voltage for your region (120V or 230V).
  4. Adjust the Power Factor if needed. Most modern appliances have a power factor between 0.7 and 0.95. The default value is 0.85.
  5. Click the Calculate button to see the results.

Understanding the Results

  • Daily Energy Consumption: The amount of energy the appliance uses per day in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
  • Monthly Energy Consumption: Estimated energy use over a 30-day period.
  • Annual Energy Consumption: Estimated yearly energy use.
  • Current (Amps): The electrical current drawn by the appliance.
  • Power (Watts): The actual power consumption of the appliance.

Practical Applications

This calculator can help you:

  • Estimate electricity costs by multiplying the kWh values by your local electricity rate.
  • Identify energy-hungry appliances in your home or business.
  • Plan for proper electrical capacity in your circuit breakers and wiring.
  • Make informed decisions about energy efficiency improvements.

Example Calculation

For example, if you have a 1500W space heater used for 8 hours a day:

  1. Power Consumption: 1500W
  2. Usage Hours: 8
  3. Power Factor: 0.95 (typical for motors)
  4. Voltage: 230V (Europe/Asia)
  5. Daily Consumption: (1500 × 8 × 0.95) / (1000 × 230) = 0.50 kWh
  6. Monthly Consumption: 0.50 × 30 = 15.0 kWh
  7. Annual Consumption: 0.50 × 365 = 182.5 kWh

This means the space heater would consume approximately 182.5 kWh per year, which you can use to estimate its running cost.
