Protein Content Calculator for Dog Food

This calculator helps you determine the protein content in dog food based on the total nitrogen content and the conversion factor for protein.

Input Parameters

Calculation Results

Protein Content (%)

Calculation Formula

Protein Content (%) = Total Nitrogen Content (%) × Conversion Factor

Where:
Total Nitrogen Content (%) is the percentage of nitrogen in the dog food.
Conversion Factor is the standard factor used to convert nitrogen to protein (typically 6.25).

Learn how to use the Protein Content Calculator for Dog Food calculator and its working principles

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the Total Nitrogen Content (%) of the dog food in the first input field. This is usually provided on the nutritional information label of the dog food.
  2. The Conversion Factor is set to 6.25 by default, as this is the standard factor used to convert nitrogen to protein.
  3. Click the Calculate button to compute the protein content.
  4. The result will be displayed in the Protein Content (%) field.

Understanding the Formula

The calculator uses the following formula to determine the protein content:

Protein Content (%) = Total Nitrogen Content (%) × Conversion Factor

This formula is based on the fact that protein is approximately 16% nitrogen by weight. The conversion factor of 6.25 is used to convert the nitrogen content to protein content.

Example

If a dog food has a total nitrogen content of 12%, the protein content would be calculated as follows:

Protein Content = 12% × 6.25 = 75%

This means the dog food contains 75% protein.
